The Scarf Turban

If you follow whatIwore (http://whatiwore.tumblr.com/), you have undoubtedly seen Jessica don a scarf turban from time to time. And if you are like me, you have never quite figured out how she does it.

Well, your wait is over!

Here is Jessica giving a step-by-step tutorial on how she does it:

This is adorable on so many levels! I can't wait to try it out!

Kings of Leon And The Crappy Situation

Kings of Leon played here in St. Louis last Friday night at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. Unfortunately they only made it through three songs before leaving the stage and canceling the remainder of the show. This was do to "safety reasons."

Rumor has it that "safety reasons" translates to pigeons pooping all over them.

While I find this utterly disgusting, I thought rock stars lived for this kind of crap?!

Too bad Ozzy wasn't there, he would have known how to handle the situation!

Knitting 101

Yesterday a friend and I took a beginners knitting class offered at a local craft store. We thought it would be fun to learn and a good life skill to have.

After two long hours, I created the following:

It is a tiny scarf! Obviously!

Now, I love a craft and I knew I had more in me then that.

I mean, how can I be the Republican Martha Stewart of the Midwest with projects like that?

As soon as I got home, the practicing began.

Here is round two:

Still not great but a vast improvement.

Today after work I tried again:

And success!

I can now say that small sections of my body will be warm this winter!!

All in all, knitting is pretty fun. There is a lot you can do with it and a lot of neat things you can make.

Even if I never use any of my so called scarfs, I am glad that I learned the technique!

The Seth Cohen Starter Pack

I did a Style Envy post a few weeks ago about Rachel Bilson, since then I have been reminiscing about my favorite O.C. moments.

Remember the "The Seth Cohen Starter Pack"?

TSCSP contains the following: The Goonies, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Transatlanticism by Death Cab for Cutie, Oh, Inverted World by The Shins and Collection of Songs by Bright Eyes.

If you put together a gift bag for someone of all the things that you loved, what would it include?

My SCSP would include: Pride and Prejudice (the movie staring Keira Knightley), Lifeline by Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, an issue of Harper's Bazaar, Rouge Double Intensité in Rose Quartz by Chanel, Redvine's, Diet Coke and a picture of my late sister Renée.

It is funny that these are just material things, but everything in my SCSP makes me feel a certain way.

Every time I watch Pride and Prejudice I feel hopefully and ready to be in love.

When I listen to Lifeline I feel relaxed and mellow.

Each month when the new Harper's Bazaar comes out, I am eager to see what is "Fabulous At Every Age" (truth be told, I have always identified with the 30's age bracket).

Rouge Double Intensité lipstick makes me feel confident and put together. I love how makeup can transform your look and your persona instantly!

Redvine's and Diet Coke, need I say more? Not only are Redvine's delicious, they make a perfect straw for your soda! Double bonus!

And my picture of my sister well, that reminds me that everyday is precious. She was such a large part of my life and my heart aches each time I look at her picture. However, I rather have a heavy heart then no feeling at all.

So, what is in your Seth Cohen Starter Pack?

"The Youth is Starting to Change"

While most people are worried about the future of today's youth, I am very optimistic.

My eleven year old niece is a big fan of Ace of Cakes. She thought it would be fun to try and make a cake with fondant.

Here is what she created:

I am so proud her! This cake is awesome and I am looking forward to her taking care of me one day!!!

Style Envy - Olivia Palermo

As much as I hate to admit it, I have major style envy when it comes to Olivia Palermo!

She always looks fresh, put together and tailored. Her hair is always flawless (jealous) and her makeup is natural and dewey (double jealous)!

Too bad someone so gorgeous has to act so ugly.

Team Whitney forever!

Warning: As much as I love Whitney and relate to her, it is more then likely that this will be her only cameo on the Style Envy section of this blog.

Don't you just hate it when bad clothes happen to good people?!
